So becasue I am STUPID, after discussing it with my partner and my friends, I purchaced one copy of John Ringo's ultimate badfic, Ghost.
As the author has acknowledged this as a ultimate badfic, I figured this for an amusing, obviously idologicaly motivated, but probably harmless read.
Fuck me, was I wrong.
In this review, I intend to look not so much at the books content, but at the underlying ideology behind the book, its themes and roots. This is beacue we burned the fucking thing (hence the 451 club), and I can't go into detail.
In partiuclar, ghost revolves arround three themes. Unsuprisingly, these are sex, violence and racial superiority.
Our hero, so called, essentaly exhibits all the signs of being an organised psychotic. His obsessions are violent sex, violent killing, and violent endorsement of american imperalistic policy.
So lets break this down in to each obessive category and see what we see
We'll start with the most visibly onjectionable, sex.
I'd say that John ringo might have a madonna/whore complex, except that he never identifies a madonna in the whole bloody book. Every single woman is a whore, unless they are a killer like mike, in which case they might get a pass. They dont get names, unless they are for some reason usefull. Even then they get pet names, dimunitieves. They all react to his deadliness by wanting to fall into bed with him, or else they get magicly raped to redemption by his penis of superiority.
In Mike Harmons world, women exist only to satisfy his (or others)lusts. Period. The only value they can have is value a man chooses to give them.
Now onto the killing. Mike is a psycopath. When he gets frustrated, he needs to kill, or rape, and says so in as many words. HIs prefered target of choice is brown people, who he will kill with glee. His mental process popluates these people with names that are themselves excerises in vicious racisim.

There has been quite a lot of discussion over john ringo's ghost on this magical webbernets thing, so after discussing it with my partner and some friends, we decided to get a copy and subject it to a reading and merciless interigation.
